Situated in-between the majestic lush green mountains and rivers, Assam is the most charming state in North East India lying in the wait to be explored.

Assam may not be a popular tourist destination but that is what makes it a backpackers paradise. You will often find yourself alone, lost in the mountains and being away from the crowd you will find solace.

Have I got you excited yet? well, if not I will help you find the perfect places for you to visit in Assam and without any further delay lets take a look at our tour itinerary for 7 days amongst the majestic mountains and rich flora and fauna of Assam

Day 1: Guwahati – Shillong ( 98.9km | 3 Hours )

Arrive at Guwahati through train or flight and get a cab to Shillong. Shillong is about 100km from Guwahati and it will take 3 hours to reach there.

There are many places for you to visit in Shillong such as Elephant Falls, Umiam Lake, Shillong Peak & View Point, Don Bosco Museum, David Scott Trail and many more. Take your time to explore and remember not to rush.

Day 2: Shillong to Cherapunjee ( 50km | 1.5 Hours )

wake up early and hit the road and bid your farewell to the beautiful town of Shillong and get on your way to Cherapunjee which is situated at a distance of 50km and 1.5 hours of drive.

There are many places to discover in Cherapunjee such as Nohkalikai falls, Mawsmai cave, Seven sisters’ falls and many more. My favourite of them all is Nohkalikai falls. Just get there and you will see why this place is always the first on any adventurers list.

Day 3: Cherapunjee - Mawllynnong ( 78km | 2.5 Hours

Get an early start on the day as this is going to be a long one. Leave to see the cleanest village in Asia, Mawllynnong. Explore the place on foot, and take a good trek to reach the Living Root Bridges nearby.

Get to know the local and get a firsthand experience of life in the mountains and trust me you will not regret it. Take a stroll in the nearby areas and relax your body and mind and take nature in. Return to Cherapunjee and spend the night in your hotel.

Day 4: Cherapunjee - Kaziranga (307.4Km | 7 hr 14 min )

Wake up early as today is going to be the best road trip of your life. There is nothing much to do today as there will be no time to waste. Hit the road and enjoy the mountains, rivers and the cold breeze that you will experience through on the road trip.

Reach the national park and check into your hotel and rest as tomorrow is going to a hard one but it will be worth it.

Day 5: Kaziranga Wildlife Tour

Want to enjoy the wildlife of the mountain along with nature? well, today is just the day for you. After your breakfast early in the morning, you can choose to explore the Western Zone of Kaziranga National.

Apart from the endangered One-horned Rhinoceros, the Park sustains half the world's population of genetically pure Wild Water Buffaloes, over 1000 Wild elephants and perhaps the densest population of Royal Bengal Tigers anywhere.

Kaziranga is also a bird watcher's paradise and home to some 500 species of birds. The Crested Serpent Eagle, Palla's Fishing Eagle, Grey-headed Fishing Eagle, Swamp Partridge, Bar-headed goose, Whistling Teal, Bengal Florican, Storks, Herons and Pelicans are some of the species found here.

Day 6: Kaziranga - Guwahati ( 7.3km | 30 mins)

The last part of your journey is a short one. wake up and get on the road for a short drive to Guwahati. You can choose this day to explore places in Guwahati such as Umananda Temple, Kamakhya Temple and the local markets and get some souvenirs to take back home to remember the journey.

Day 7: Way Back Home

Return back to your home and miss the trip forever.
