7 Days Sikkim Road Trip Itinerary

Sikkim is the land of green mountains and beautiful valleys. The name Sikkim is a combination of two words, " su " which means new and " khyim " which means place.

From clouds dancing around the peaks, clear lakes, beautiful monasteries to stargazing around a bonfire, Sikkim will never cease to amaze you.  

But how can you spend your time in Sikkim to get the best of Sikkim? well, that's what we will talk about today. 

Here Is " How To Plan Your 7 Days - Road Trip Itinerary In Sikkim". 

1. Day 1

Reach NJP Railway Station / IXB Airport & transfer to Gangtok (5,500 ft.) and witness the grandeur of the mountains. 

Stay one night in Gangtok and get ready for your next part of your journey. Grab all the essentials and have a good night sleep. 

2. Day 2

After breakfast start for an excursion Tsomgo Lake & Baba Mandir which is 55 km one way from Gangtok city.

Overnight stay at Gangtok. (In case of Landslide or any other reason Tsomgo Lake is closed have alternate sightseeing preplanned).

3. Day 3 

Gangtok – Lachen (107 km / 6 hrs).

After the mindblowing day 2, proceed to Lachen (8,500 ft.), North Sikkim. On the way have some break for some beautiful spots which are worth seeing and visiting like Naga Waterfall, The Confluence of Lachen Chu (River) & Lachung Chu (River) at Chungthang and Bhim Nala Waterfall.

Reach Lachen and take rest for the night. 

4. Day 4

Early Morning drive to Chopta Valley (13,200 ft.) & Gurudongmar Lake (17,100 ft.). 

Take the memory of the beauty of the valley with you and interact with the locals on the way and have an experience you can't forget for the rest of your life. 

Back for an overnight stay at Lachung.

5. Day 5

On day 5 an absolute treat to your eyes awaits you.  

Proceed to Yumthang Valley (12,000 ft. Known as Valley of Flowers) it is a nature's sanctuary with rivers, hot springs, yaks and grazing pasture on rolling meadows surrounded by the Himalayan mountains. 

On the way back, visit Hot Spring considered to have medicinal properties by trekking. It will truly take away all your tension and will relax your body and mind.

6. Day 6

Lachung – Gangtok (102 / 5 Hrs).

It is time to go back to Gangtok. On the way, if the weather is clear you may get to see Mighty Khangchendzonga from Singhik viewpoint.

Rest of the evening free for your own activities.

7. Day 7

After breakfast, we deaprt for Nathula Pass early in the morning, followed by departure for Baghdogra. 

And miss the trip forever.
