Tamil Nadu is one of my favourite destination in India. Boasting cultural opulence, wildlife richness, hill stations to be enamoured of and temples with intricate carvings to imbibe spirituality, Tamil Nadu is a destination in India that cannot be ignored.

In fact, the state opens its doors to those who are willing to get a new perspective without being sceptical about anything. Therefore, if you are visiting Tamil Nadu, you need to accept a different take on spirituality and culture.

So, here's my 7 days Gujarat trip itinerary.

Day 01 Arrival at Chennai:

On the very first day of your tour, when you reach Chennai from your hometown and be ready to get blown away by the rich diversified culture of the city.

Check into your hotel or go for a ride around the town and experience different cultures, food and trust me it will be worth the trouble.

Some of the popular places to visit in Chennai are Marina Beach, Mahabalipuram, Sri Parthasarathy Temple, Birla Planetarium, San Thome Church, Kapaleeshwar Temple etc.

Day 02 Chennai - Tirupati - Mahabalipuram

On the 2nd day of the journey get up real early to reach Tirupati temple. The famous Vedic temple in the town of Tirumala is one of the richest temples of the World. This ancient temple of Lord Sri Venkateshwara is made in the Dravidian style of architecture.

Soon after lunch, set off towards Mahabalipuram which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it contains monolithic temples. Apart from the temples some of the famous heritage sites include Anjuna’s penance, caves of Govardhan Dhari and Mahishasur Mardini.

Day 03 Mahabalipuram - Pondicherry - Tanjore

Next day get up early to enjoy that sunrise and move towards Pondicherry. It’s a 2 hours drive and on reaching here visit some of the famous Churches like Immaculate Conception Cathedral, Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Our Lady of Angels church

Here we shall take you to Sri Manakula Vinayagar Temple – famous for its elephants inside the temple grounds!.

Rest a little and enjoy your lunch at one of the seaside restaurants. After lunch, move on to Tanjore. On reaching Tanjore, check-in your hotel and take a good South Indian dinner.

Day 04 Tanjore - Trichy

have a quick breakfast and get on the road to see Brihadishwara Temple. It’s a different kind of temple – in the morning hours, its rocks turn into white and in the evening it has shades of red, yellow, orange and pink! so remember to come here in the evening to see the colour change.

After taking Darshan in this temple go to the Royal Palace of Tanjore! Take a good look at the paintings which are so different from the North Indian miniature paintings, see the relics and the rock-cut architecture.

Soon after lunch move towards Trichy which is an hour’s drive!.

Day 05 Trichy - Madurai

The name Tiruchirappalli also called Trichy literally translate into "holy little town". 1st temple we will see here is Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple. One of the biggest temples of India, it has 49 separate shrines of Lord Vishnu.

After seeing this, the next temple is Rock Fort Temple. With over 400 stone – cut steps to reach the temple, it was a heaven for Pallavas and Pandayas. On reaching here, move around the temple complex which gives the feeling of a small Fort in every sense!

Next morning enjoy your breakfast at any of the local restaurants and set off to Madurai.

Day 06 Madurai

On reaching Madurai the first thing to see here is the Meenakshi Amman Temple. The architecture of this Temple is often compared with that of Taj Mahal of North India.

After seeing the temple go to Tirumala Nayak Palace. It’s massive scale architecture and colourful design is worth the watch.

In the evening take a stroll in the local market and shop for world-famous south cotton and silken fabric. get some souvenir to take back home to remember the trip by.

Day 07 Madurai - Chennai

On the last day of the tour, get up for an early breakfast and proceed towards Chennai which is a 7 hours drive.
