Top 10 Adventure Travel Movies To Watch
Stuck at home with an urge to explore the world?, Looking for inspiration ? or just another movie to feed your hunger for travel on Saturday night? I have got you all covered. just lay back in the comfort of your home and enjoy these movies which I am sure will feed your hunger for travel.

1.wild

The story of a young girl named Cheryl who drops everything in her life and went on an adventure covering 1,100 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail after the devastating loss of her mother. With absolutely no experience, driven only by sheer determination, she hikes more than a thousand miles of the Pacific Crest Trail, alone.

Wild powerfully captures the terrors and pleasures of one young woman forging ahead against all odds on a journey that maddens, strengthen, and ultimately heals her.

Not only the drive of the character but the sheer beauty of the desolate desert and how terrifying it can truly be is depicted perfectly in this movie, it's not a movie for the faint of heart.

2. The Secret Life of Walter Mitty

If you are someone who lives a pretty average (repetitive day) life with a dead-end job and a boss who doesn't like you a lot then I have got the story of your life and Walter has a similar one to you.

When Walter’s job along with that of his co-worker is threatened, Walter takes action in the real world embarking on a global journey that turns into an adventure more extraordinary than anything he could have ever imagined.

He lives a pretty uninteresting life until he decides to travel around the world in search of a famous photographer. The things he experiences in a short amount of time helping push him to really get out of his comfort zone.

3. Amélie

A little bit of imagination can change anyone's world. Amélie is all about a girl who tries to use her imaginative personality to try and brighten people’s day.

If you haven't been to Paris before you'll want to plan a trip after stepping into Amelie's world. This whimsical, contemporary French classic shows the life of an imaginative waitress living in Montmartre as she goes on quite the personal adventure throughout the city.

Scenes take place in a Parisian cafe, the metro, and the Basilica of the Sacré Cœur, and there's also beautiful landscapes shots and one of the loveliest moped scenes you'll ever watch.

No list of the best travel movies would be complete without including this beautiful French film.

4. Before Sunrise

When travelling to a new city, chances are you spend a large part of the first few days just walking around and finding your bearings. Few films encapsulate that aimless walkabout feeling like Before Sunrise. Backpacking American Jesse (Ethan Hawke) gets to live every male traveller’s dream.

He meets Celine, a gorgeous French woman (Julie Delpy), and the two have a 12-hour love affair while exploring Vienna for the day. No strings attached.

After striking a conversation on the train and having an instant chemistry, they decide to get off together in Vienna. The couple establishes an intense intimacy, share stories, opinions jokes and discover love, all surrounded by backlit buildings, racing against time before sunrise.

5. Planes, Trains, and Automobiles

Set around Thanksgiving, Planes uses the travel rush in the days leading up to the holiday as a more-than-worthy comedic vehicle. Steve Martin goofs as Neal Page, who faces a series of travel nightmares on his trip from New York City to Chicago in advance of Turkey Day.

After his flight is cancelled due to inclement weather, Page ends up sharing his trip home with salesman Del Griffith, played by the late, great John Candy.

6. Lost in Translation

Lost in Translation chronicles the budding friendship of two Americans in Tokyo, shot in typically beautiful Sofia Coppola fashion. From the upmarket Park Hyatt hotel to the neon-filled karaoke bars and streets, the movie is like a tourism ad for Tokyo.

7. Under the Tuscan Sun

Before there was Eat, Pray, Love, there was Under the Tuscan Sun—the story of a woman who buys a villa in Italy after her marriage falls apart.

As we watch Frances (Diane Lane) renovate her gorgeous new house and take day trips to the Amalfi Coast, the thought of dropping everything to move to Tuscany suddenly doesn’t seem so ridiculous.

8. The Motorcycle Diaries

This is where it all began for Ernesto "Che" Guevara, whose road trip across Latin America with his pal Alberto Granado opened Che's eyes to political injustice.

Director Walter Salles filmed their travels through major landmarks in South America, as per Che's memoir, from the Andes mountain range to Machu Picchu and even a leper colony in San Pablo.

9. Midnight in Paris

Gil Pender, played by Owen Wilson, is a wide-eyed screenwriter and aspiring novelist on a trip to Paris with his fiancée.

Like many tourists in the City of Light, he retraces the steps of Parisian creatives past, drinking coffee in the same places they once did—until, late one night, a car of these very icons appears, sweeping him back in time to an evening of revelry among the literati of the 1920s.

10. Into the Wild

The true story of Christopher "Alexander Supertramp" McCandless's disappearance and demise in the Alaskan wilderness can be viewed as poetic or moronic, depending on who you talk to.

But there's no denying the essential sense of beauty and desolation in Sean Penn's filmic take on the story. As McCandless, Emile Hirsch rides the rails, kayaks the Colorado River, summits snowy peaks, races into the Pacific, and embodies a classically American vision of unchecked wanderlust—exuberant, unstoppable, and foolish.
