3 Easy Steps To Plan Your Own Trip And Save Money
Planning a trip yourself can save you a ton of money. Most of the people don't just want to get into the trouble of planning a trip themselves and depend on there against for the same for which they charge a huge amount of money.
Even the best of the travel blogger sometimes don't get the right balance and end up spending more than they'd expected to.
But what if I tell you that there is a way to make that luxury vacation possible with minimal cost by planning it yourself?
Why not give it a try and save major cash for the future?
Here is my guide on how you should plan your next trip and save a ton of money.
Step 1: ( picking a Destination, Budget, Duration)
- Destination: The slightest of research can help you understand which countries will serve your travel budget best. Either you already have a destination in mind or just scrolling through webpages to find the cheapest one. Anyways, your plan helps you save money, not just the actual destination.
- Budget: To create a realistic trip budget, you need to estimate how much money you’d spend on a daily basis. What you are going to eat and for how many times. where you are going to stay, what will be your mode of transportation. make a list of all the compulsory and luxury expenses you plan on making and cut cost where ever you can. ( this is where your creativity comes in)
- duration: Your timeframe will be largely determined by your budget and your work schedule, and it will influence a lot of other decisions for your trip. Another deciding factor can be the tourist period of the destination you plan on going to. There is offseason when you can get everything for less price and crowd-free zone. for me its the offseason that I prefer the most.
Step 2: ( research, plan your itinerary, find cheap and free activities )
- Research: So now that you’ve decided your non-negotiables, the next step is to get Googling. I recommend checking out the following:
- Currency exchange
- The daily cost of living
- List the top sights to see
- List the top cities to visit
- Visa requirements ( on arrival?)
- Health information- recommended vaccines, drinking water quality, mosquito warnings, altitude.
- Plan your itinerary: Once you've chosen a place, you'll want to familiarize yourself with it. Where do you want to go? What do you want to see? The amount of pre-planning here is up to you. There are benefits to having loose travel plans, but this is not possible or desirable for every person and trip.
- Find cheap and free activities: Once you've chosen a place, route, and places to stay, you'll want to scope out activities for your trip. You needn't plan every minute, but it can be wise to get some ideas in advance. You can always take a walk and meet with the locals and explore but I suggest you check WikiVoyage and Lonely Planet for quickly finding a list of ways to keep busy in a new place, including free things.
Step 3: ( book bare minimum )
Book bare minimum: My general rule of thumb is that you only book the following ahead of time:
- Flight in
- Flight out
- Your first hostel
- Pre-booked transportation?
Having your ticket in and out of the country will give you security and put your mind at ease, but knowing that you have the ability to change your plans based on recommendations and reviews will open you up to far more opportunities.
So that is how I think you should plan your trip to save money with 3 easy steps. what is your take on this? share your itinerary and trip plan with me through any social media or just leave a quick comment.
A limerick is always appreciated.
