16 Amazing  Tips To Save Your Next Trip :

1. Make Travel a Priority

If you want to travel more, you’ve got to make it a priority!

Seriously, if you don’t have enough money for travel yet you have a wardrobe full of designer clothes that you never wear, or a garage full of expensive toys collecting dust, then you’re not clear on your priorities and purpose.

2. Spend more time

When you’re planning a trip, don’t try and go everywhere and do everything – that’s a recipe for burnout and blowing your budget!

Instead of racing from one end of a country to another, or tearing through 6 countries in 6 weeks, get to know a region well.

Constantly having to pack and unpack, spend time searching for cheap flights, deal with different time zones, currency changes, and even visa issues can lead to burn out.

And moving around to too many travel destinations can really eat into your finances.

Slow down and take more in. This way, you’ll get a better feel for a place. Traveling with kids?
Plan for a slower pace than you would if traveling solo or as a couple. Be realistic about what you accomplish, especially when traveling with toddlers.

3. things don't always go your way

If you want everything like it is at home, then what’s the point of going anywhere?

Keep an open mind to learning and experiencing new things when you travel abroad, that includes trying new foods which can tell you a lot about a culture – and don’t be scared to eat the street food!

We travel abroad to experience different cultures, environments, and ways of thinking. So don’t shut yourself off to experiencing all a country has to offer.

If you travel with an open mind you can have a much more enriching experience.

4. locals are your best friends

One of our best travel tips and what we always do is talk to the locals!

They usually have the best travel advice and insider knowledge on what to see, do and eat in their own town.

It’s truly amazing what you will learn by striking up a casual conversation.

We ask simple questions like:

  • Where can we get the best coffee?
  • Where is the best spot to see the sunrise?
  • What are the top three things you would show a friend from out of town?

You’ll find that the locals love sharing travel info and stories about their town and are more than happy to help you have a memorable visit!

Some of the best locals to talk to are those working behind the front desk in your hotel, or the bell boy. We always ask them for tips on where to eat, drink and explore.

5. Free is always right

If saving money when you travel is a focus for you, then one of our best budget travel tips is to seek out all the free things to do.

There is an absolute joy in the simplest of moments, such as swinging in a hammock while watching the sunset over the horizon.

Other free things:

  • Take a walk or bike ride
  • Swim at the beach or lake
  • Climb a mountain
  • Catch a magnificent sunrise
  • Attend museums or tourist sites on free days or when they are discounted

When you walk around you have time to stop and marvel at all the nooks and crannies.

6. BOOK EARLY!!

As well as saving money, booking a trip well in advance also has big psychological benefits. A Dutch study in the journal Applied Research in Quality of Life (which sounds like a must-read title to us), found that holidaymakers are happiest not when they’re on holiday, not when they get back, but when they’re looking forward to it.

By booking early, you maximize that excitement and anticipation – even if your productivity checks out early because you’re Googling pictures of your destination at the office. Use sites like Tripadvisor.com to plan out activities and excursions ahead of time.

7. Tap into free wifi

As you’re walking around, plenty of places will have free Wi-Fi, but they’ll probably be password protected – and they won’t give out that password if you aren’t making a purchase. “Sidestep that problem by checking FourSquare, where previous visitors will often post passwords,” says Sansom.

But remember always to use a VPN to protect your personal information

8. Learn a few words of the language in every country you visit

You’ll gain more respect from the locals if you can at least say hello, please, sorry, and thank you. On that note, remember: if you don’t speak the language, it’s your problem, not theirs.

And please don’t start speaking louder to make yourself understood. Try miming instead, or using a translation app on your phone.

9. Bring earplugs and a sleep mask

Travel isn’t conducive for sleep, whether it’s snorers in dorm rooms, early risers rustling plastic bags, or drunk backpackers stumbling around in the middle of the night.

Even if you don’t stay in hostels, you’ll still have to deal with street noise from outside, loud bars nearby, and uncomfortable overnight journeys.

Pack some earplugs and a sleep mask in your bag to help improve your sleep. I’ve been using Sleep Phones to block out light and listen to podcasts and I love them.

10. And a stash of emergency cash

I carry a spare 300 USD that’s split up in various places in my backpack, daypack, and occasionally, my shoe when I’m nervous I’ll be robbed. It means that in a worst case scenario, I can pay for some food, a dorm bed, and a Skype call to my family to get an emergency wire transfer until I can get back on my feet again.

11. Expect the evil

when you are travelling make sure you have all the things you need, for that make a list beforehand so that you don't miss out on important things. You should always carry extra phone charger, power bank, an extra pair of socks, a flip-flop, extra cash just in case of an emergency.

12. Back up everything in multiple places

Imagine how you’d feel if you lost every single photo from your trip. You really don’t want that to happen, so back everything up, in multiple places. My tech-savvy friend always reminds me that anything that’s stored in one place is something you don’t mind losing.

13. If you’re not sure if you should bring it, don’t

The lighter your backpack, the better. If in doubt, leave it behind. Trust me, you can buy pretty much anything you could possibly need in most places around the world. You’ll soon learn that all you need when you travel is a change of clothes, some money, and a passport. Everything else is adding to your comfort.

14. Give family and/or friends copies of your itinerary

From a safety perspective, it’s good to have several people back home who know where you’ll be. I forward any flight or accommodation confirmations to my family and Skype with them several times a week to let them know what I’m up to.

That way, if ever I disappear for a few days, my family will know immediately and will be able to know where I was staying at that time. It takes just a few minutes but really improves your safety.

15. Travel with a toilet roll

Grab half a roll, squash it up, and keep it in a sandwich bag in your daypack. Long bus journeys in developing countries often stop at squat toilets where there’ll be no toilet paper. At which point, you’ll be unbelievably grateful you have some of your own.

16.  Mark your luggage so it stands out

You don’t want to accidentally take someone else’s luggage or have someone run off with yours at the baggage reclaim. Stick some stickers on it, put some duct tap along one side, tie some ribbons to the handle — make sure it stands out from a sea of similar backpacks!

And that's it I guess I will see in the next flight, till then goodbye !!
